Tips for Finding the Perfect Home

Tips for Finding the Perfect Home

Finding the perfect home can be stressful and exciting all at the same time. Buying a new home can be nerve-racking, especially if you’re a first time home buyer. Many first-time home buyers wonder how they’ll know when they have found the perfect home.

Here are the tips for finding the perfect home:

1. Figure out what your perfect home looks like

Have you figured out what your perfect home looks like? If not, make a list of things you want your home to have. Write down on a piece of paper all of the things that would be nice to have and things that don’t really matter. For example, if you have children, you’ll need a house with a backyard where they can play.

2. Purchase a home that stays in budget

It’s important to purchase a home that stays in your budget. Before you go out to look at houses, you should get pre-approved for a loan. This will make the process of buying a home much easier and you’ll know which houses to look at based on your pre-approved loan. Consider the space you need because you don’t want to make a bad decision by stretching out your budget.

3. Location is important

The location of your home is important. There are a couple of things you need to consider such as schools, commute, and convenience and amenities. School is an important factor in the purchasing decision. If you have children, find a home that has access to good schools. Are there public or private schools nearby? Are your children able to walk to school?

Do you have the luxury of working from home? Maybe you own a business that has ATVs for sale or you’re an electrician that specializes in EV charger installation. If not, you should consider your commute to work. Do you want to commute 30 minutes or 2 hours to get to work or office space? You should look into a home close to major highways and rapid transit services.

What do you want to have close access to? You should check the surrounding area of your home. Is living near healthcare facilities and services like an optometrist important? Do you want to have close access to malls, dentists, optometrists, grocery stores, the best shawarma joint or the best Italian restaurant?

4. Think about remodeling

It’ll be difficult to find your dream house. You should be flexible and your expectations don’t have to be high. Remodeling is always an option if the house doesn’t seem like the perfect home to you. For example, how about painting and installing new wood floors? How about a kitchen or bathroom remodel?

5. Do a home inspection

Doing a home inspection is one of the most important task any homeowner has. Hiring a home inspector will help to reveal the true value of the home and the small little details of a home.

For example, a home inspector will inspect the kitchen to check pipes underneath for leaks, bathrooms to check if the toilet flushes properly, and floor, walls, and ceilings to check for cracks, flood, and water damage. Then, your home inspector would recommend whether or not you need to hire a licensed plumber who specializes in basement waterproofing and drain cleaning services.
